SPOTLIGHT: Using Emoji Bracelets to Help Communicate Feelings
The goal of the emoji bracelets is to help children feel comfortable with telling us how they feel. Each bracelet has an emoji representing a different emotion. When the children tell us how they feel; for example happy, sad, mad, etc; they choose and wear the bracelet representing that emotion. The children have fun with this activity while still learning their emotions and express themselves even more than just saying, ‘I am happy’ or ‘I am sad.’
Being a teacher brings me such joy! Seeing how the social-emotional/Pyramid Model training that I have received from Brightside Up has helped me understand and help children has been amazing. In addition, our newest teacher Alexis Rivera, who has just received his CDA, is doing an excellent job of helping the children and express their emotions while he uses books that focus on feelings.
