Child Care Capital Program

Quality child care is critical to New York families as it provides a safe environment for children, while also providing the educational foundation for the next generation of New Yorkers. Working families struggle to find quality programs in their communities in every corner of the State.
To effectively address New York’s continuing need for affordable, quality child care services, New York State has made $50 million available for the NYS Child Care Capital Program (CCCP).
WORKFORCE RETENTION GRANT
APPLICATION OPEN: 07/26/2023 | APPLICATION CLOSED: 09/15/2023
On May 31, 2023, Governor Kathy Hochul announced a $500 million investment in the FY 2024 budget for the Workforce Retention Grant Program. The program supports up to 150,000 child care workers with bonus payments ranging from $2,300 to $3,000. Eligible programs include OCFS-licensed school-age child care, day care centers, family day care homes, group family day care homes, small day care centers, and Article 47 group day care centers permitted by DOHMH. Funding assists in staff retention, recruitment, and other vital initiatives.
STABILIZATION GRANTs 1.0 & 2.0

STABILIZATION 2.0 APPLICATION OPEN: July 5, 2022 | APPLICATION CLOSED: December 14, 2022
The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) has allocated $900 million to 15,000 eligible child care providers through the Child Care Stabilization Grant. The first grant (Stabilization 1.0) provided $1.074 billion to eligible providers, with applications closing on November 30, 2021. Building on this success, OCFS released a second round, Stabilization 2.0 for Workforce Supports, awarding $208 million to 12,578 providers. The second grant closed for applications on December 14, 2022.
INVEST IN NY CHILD CARE DESERTS GRANT
Awards for the Invest in NY Child Care Deserts grant for new providers were announced on July 25, 2022
New York State identified $100M to build and expand child care capacity in areas with the least supply. Utilizing funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), child care desert funding represents an unprecedented opportunity and investment to build capacity and strengthen the state’s economy, by addressing the issues that impact businesses including chronic absence, productivity reductions and turnover due to inadequate options for quality child care in the most needed parts of the state.
