SESSION DESCRIPTIONS
MORNING SESSIONS
8:15AM-10:15AM
Family-Style Dining - Family-style dining encourages children to eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables while creating positive attitudes toward food consumption. We will explore different methods to encourage positive food relationships and habits during meal time.
Keys to Developing a Successful Business Part 1 - As business owners, it is important to understand our strengths and areas for opportunity to identify what we want to accomplish and how to succeed. How we analyze the key components of running a successful child care business is critical for long-term stability. What is your social media presence, your advertisement portfolio, and what does your enrollment interview look like? Are you charging parents the current market rate for care and are your enrollment numbers where you want them to be? Together we will review your current situation and brainstorm ideas to move your business to the next level. We recommend taking parts 1 & 2
MID-MORNING SESSIONS
10:30AM-12:30PM
Demystifying IFSPs and IEPs - All children enter the world ready to learn. Some children have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) to accommodate their unique learning needs. Demystify your role on the special education team by discovering how to empower families to know their rights under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Using the law as our guide, you will walk away with a deeper understanding of Early Intervention (EI) and the Committee for Preschool Special Education (CPSE).
Keys to Developing a Successful Business Part 2 - Review essential information to better develop and understand the necessity of written contracts and policies. Bring a copy of your current contracts and policies for evaluation and ideas for revision. We will also assess the components of a well-developed business plan and how to build a sustainable budget. We recommend taking parts 1 & 2
Mercadeo - Conozca los principales elementos necesarios para tener un plan integral de marketing de cuidado infantil que incluya producto, precio, plaza y promoción. Explore estos elementos y desarrolle su propio plan de marketing.
AFTERNOON SESSIONS
1:30PM-3:30PM
Caring Spaces - Caring Spaces is a four-tiered approach to measuring quality in infant and toddler environments: (1) evaluating the provision of a free exploratory environment, (2) responsive caregiving, (3) age-appropriate materials and experiences, and (4) the ability to engage in conversations with families about child development and challenging behavior. The goal of Caring Spaces is to offer a tool for reflection, set goals, and create action plans to increase quality caregiving, and reduce the prevalence of expulsion and suspension in early childhood.
Regulations - Familiarize yourself with the regulations required by New York State and gain a clear understanding of your role in adhering to them. Work in small groups to locate specific regulations and evaluate real-world scenarios.
