Child Care Assistance with Schenectady County Cares
Schenectady County rolls out a “first-in-the-State” portal to ease and facilitate the process for applying for child care assistance. As of August 1, 2022 eligibility for Child Care reimbursement is 300% over the NYS poverty level. Families who previously didn't qualify for child care assistance may qualify now.
While the benefit applies to all New York families, Schenectady County has created an online portal that streamlines the process so families can apply for assistance when and where it's convenient for them, in less time. For anyone outside of Schenectady County, check your eligibility and apply by calling your local Department of Social Services, or the Child Care Facilitated Enrollment Program at the Workforce Development Institute.
