HVCC professor, Christine Saxe, will present strategies to weave creativity and creative thought throughout the curriculum. Different types of creative modalities will be discussed. Learn how to make your classroom a place of wonder and discovery.

From Poverty to Sustainability: Building Lives, Leaders and Communities

This is in collaboration with The Voices, a Library Lecture Series

Presenter: Mike Saccocio

Based on his 33 years of experience working with homeless and underserved men, women, and children, Michael Saccocio, executive director/CEO of City Mission of Schenectady, will discuss strategies for converting divisive social situations into partnerships that create opportunities and build community. In addition, he will share stories of how purpose-driven individuals can use their adverse life experiences to inspire others to build better futures for themselves and their families.

Understanding Children's Sensory Needs for Success in the Classroom

Presenter: Noelle Saxe

Occupational therapy student, Noelle Saxe, has worked with children in her latest clinical rotation in Jacksonville, Florida. In this workshop, Noelle will share what an occupational therapist does to help children learn and how you can implement these strategies in your classroom

Helping Children Handle Grief

Presenter: Carla Gleason

HVCC professor, Carla Gleason, will discuss the difficult topic of handling death and dying and the grief process with young children. Current research and practices will be evaluated and explained.

Donation boxes will also be in Higbee 100 and in front of the Student Activities office in the Campus Center from April 3rd-April 17th. Donations will benefit local schools and child care centers*
