How to register for Medication Administration Training
This registration process applies to Medication Administration Training, Independent MAT, MAT Renewal, and Emergency Medication Administration Overview (EMAO)
View our event page and find the class you wish to register for. Complete the registration for your selected session, including payment, then proceed to step 2.
You must also register for the class you selected in step 1 on the Professional Development Program (PDP) portal
Please follow this link https://www.ecetp.pdp.albany.edu/mytraining/guest/login.aspx to create an ECETP account (Early Childhood Education and Training Program). Once you have created your account follow the steps below to apply for Medication Administration Training (MAT). Applying for the training through this account is necessary and will be the only way you receive your certificate at the completion of the training.
Step 1: Click on the option Apply for Health & Safety or MAT Training
Step 2: Under the By Region option select Albany
Step 3: Scroll down and find the training with one of our Child Care Health Consultants; when you have found the training click on the training title
Step 4: A box will appear with the training details; Select Apply for this training

INDEPENDENT MAT
An online MAT curriculum with in-person skills training. After completing the online portion, please call to schedule the in-person portion with one of our MAT trainers. The online training is available at: ecept.pdp.albany.edu. Call to schedule your Independent MAT Skills session.
MAT RENEWAL
MAT certification requires renewal every three years. The first two renewals can be completed online. To renew a third time, complete an online written test and then demonstrate your medication administration skills with a MAT trainer. Call to schedule your MAT Renewal session.
EMERGENCY MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION OVERVIEW (EMAO)
If a child is having a medical emergency, you can give certain emergency medications without being MAT-certified under NYS OCFS regulations. Learn which medications can legally be given in an emergency or life-threatening situation. We will cover the causes, signs, symptoms, and prevention methods associated with severe allergic reactions and asthma attacks and you will learn how to administer the appropriate medications. MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION TRAINING (MAT)
Becoming MAT-certified allows you to provide continuous care to children with medication needs. Learn the procedures and precautions of administering medication and the different ways medication can be given. At the end of the training, you will complete a written exam and demonstrate to a trainer that you can safely administer a medication. Upon completion of the training, you will be MAT-certified under NYS OCFS regulations; the certification lasts three years. View our event page for sessions
